Running 70 to 100 miles offshore to the heart of the Gulf Stream, the 12-hour Deep Drop is the longest, furthest, and most ambitious trip we offer out of Murrells Inlet. The extra miles mean deeper structure, bluer water, and a caliber of fish that simply doesn’t exist closer to shore. This trip is offered seasonally by request — when conditions align and the fish are there, there’s nothing else like it.
You’ll leave the dock before sunrise. By the time most people are having breakfast, you’ll be 70-100 miles offshore in blue Gulf Stream water, fishing structure and depth that the shorter trips never reach. The day is built around maximizing time on the best bottom and blue water the Atlantic has to offer within range of Murrells Inlet.
Plan for an early departure, a full day on the water, and a late-afternoon return to the dock with the kind of fish box that earns a second look from everyone at the cleaning station.

What to bring: A full day’s worth of food and non-glass drinks — pack more than you think you need. Sunscreen, sunglasses, a hat, soft-soled shoes, and seasickness medication taken well before you leave the dock.
At 12 hours and 70-plus miles, preparation is not optional.
Blackfin and yellowfin tuna patrol the Gulf Stream blue water and hit a trolled bait with a deep, dogged pull. Blackfin are the steady bite at this range, yellowfin are the prize when they move through, and both are outstanding on the table.
Sailfish are one of the most exciting fish in the Atlantic, lit up and tail-walking the moment they feel the hook. They cruise the warm Gulf Stream water this trip is built around, and we release every one to fight again.
Mahi-Mahi & Wahoo
Seventy-plus miles puts you in the heart of Gulf Stream influence, where the current pushes weed lines loaded with mahi and where wahoo roam the blue water in numbers. The trolling spread fishes hard on the run out and back, and on a productive day the pelagic action alone is worth the trip. Expect bigger mahi at this range — bull fish are common when the conditions are right.
At this range in true Gulf Stream water, blue and white marlin are legitimate targets on the troll. We fish all billfish strictly catch and release, and a marlin bite out here is one of the defining experiences of East Coast offshore fishing.
We run 70 to 100 miles offshore, reaching the heart of the Gulf Stream and deep shelf-edge structure that no other trip in our fleet can access in a single day.
Ten to fifteen additional miles may not sound like much, but at this range it’s the difference between the shelf edge and the Gulf Stream itself. Deeper water, bluer current, more remote structure, larger fish, and the realistic possibility of billfish on the troll. The 10-hour trip is a serious offshore day. The 12-hour is the full commitment — the furthest, deepest, and most complete offshore experience we offer.
No. This trip involves a 70-plus mile run in open ocean, 12 hours of offshore conditions, and serious deep-water fishing that rewards experience and preparation. Guests new to offshore fishing will have a far better introduction on one of our shorter trips. If you’re unsure where to start, call us — we’ll put you on the right boat for where you are.
Take it seriously. At this range, being seasick is genuinely miserable and there’s no shortening the day once you’re out there. Prescription patches and over-the-counter options like meclizine work best when taken the night before and again the morning of departure. Avoid heavy meals and alcohol the night before, and stay hydrated. If you’ve struggled with seasickness on shorter trips, talk to us before booking this one.
The 12 hour Gulf Stream trip is $3,200 for up to 6 anglers, including the captain and mate, all gear including deep drop tackle, bait, license coverage, and coolers and ice.
Seventy to hundred miles out. The deepest fish. The biggest fish. The best day of offshore fishing available from Murrells Inlet.
